The person behind
the practice.
Twenty-five years at the intersection of education, technology, and the organizations that deliver both.
Background
I'm Darrel Tenter, founder of DLT Holdings LLC. I've spent more than 25 years working at the intersection of education, technology, and the organizations that deliver both — first as an independent consultant, then inside companies like Moodle where I managed enterprise accounts worth millions in annual revenue, and now increasingly as an operator helping organizations scale what they've built.
My background is unusually broad for this space. I've done eLearning design, LMS architecture, enterprise sales, team leadership, compliance strategy, and national expansion planning — often in the same year. That breadth isn't accidental. It's what lets me sit across from a client and understand their problem from multiple angles at once.
Current Focus
In addition to my consulting work, I currently serve as Director of Operations & Expansion at Direct Support Learning, where I'm leading the transformation of a specialized Direct Support Professional training provider from a single-state Oregon operation into a national platform. The work involves standardizing delivery models, building multi-state compliance infrastructure, and optimizing the LMS and CRM stack to support enrollment and reporting at national scale.
It's exactly the kind of problem I find most interesting: taking something that works well in one context and engineering it to work everywhere.
How I Work
I work with a small number of clients at any given time, which means the people I partner with get my full attention — not a junior associate's. I ask a lot of questions before I offer opinions, because the presenting problem is rarely the actual problem. And I try to leave every engagement with the organization more capable than I found it.
I'm based in Helena, Montana and work remotely with clients across the country. For the right engagement, I'm available for on-site work as well.
"His critical thinking skills are likely the best in our business, with a focus on consistency and clarity of thought. He always asked the tough questions — the ones no one else thought of asking."

From colleagues,
clients, and peers.
Darrel expanded the scope of competition in our industry by leveraging technology to incorporate online learning. As one of the early adopters, he forced the rest of us to rethink how we could deliver educational services to the workforce in different ways. His broad range of subject matter expertise and deep knowledge of workforce development has been invaluable to me personally over the years.
Darrel has been a longstanding member of the Moodle community and has an immense depth of knowledge of the platform. He also has an amazing drive to help clients find actual solutions to their problems. Darrel has the flexibility, curiosity, and drive to serve in a variety of roles.
His expertise in Moodle Workplace and Adobe Captivate is exceptional. I am grateful for his willingness to share his knowledge and for his attentiveness as we navigated complex challenges in our LMS. If you have the opportunity to work with Darrel, I highly recommend seizing it. You will not only gain a knowledgeable colleague but also a long-term advocate and friend.
